Private Sector Steps Up Support for Phuket Vegetarian Festival as Sansiri and SCB Continue Collaboration for 14th Year
Today, October 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jui Tui Shrine, Phuket Deputy Governor Romdon Haji-Awae joined a press conference to launch the 14th consecutive year of the collaboration between Sansiri Public Company Limited and Siam Commercial Bank Public Company Limited to support and preserve the Phuket Vegetarian Festival under the theme “Passing on Goodness, Growing Together, Sustaining the Future.”
The event was attended by Uthai Uthaikasemsuk, Chief Executive Officer of Sansiri Public Company Limited; Ekaphon Pruettiphlakorn, Head of Home Lending Product at Siam Commercial Bank; representatives from six shrines, government and private-sector agencies, and members of the public.
Phuket Deputy Governor Romdon Haji-Awae said the Phuket Vegetarian Festival, known locally as “Jae Chai,” is a spiritual and cultural heritage that has been passed down for more than 200 years.
He said the unity and faith of Phuket’s people have helped the province gain international recognition, including being named a World Festival City and receiving the Grand Pinnacle Award from the International Festivals & Events Association. Phuket’s status as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy further reinforces its international cultural and creative identity.
Uthai Uthaikasemsuk, Chief Executive Officer of Sansiri Public Company Limited, said the company’s 14-year collaboration with Siam Commercial Bank reflects the power of faith and community cooperation.
This year’s initiative is held under the theme “Passing on Goodness, Growing Together, Sustaining the Future,” inspired by an ancient Chinese scroll symbolizing the passing of values and heritage from one generation to the next. The flower motif represents growth, blossoming and giving back to society.
Meanwhile, Ekaphon Pruettiphlakorn, Head of Home Lending Product at Siam Commercial Bank, said the bank’s continued support for the Vegetarian Festival contributes to the preservation of local culture and highlights the role of cultural heritage in driving sustainable economic and social development.
The bank is also continuing its “SCB Chuan Kan Tham Dee” initiative, which encourages employees and customers to participate in preserving local identity and promoting social responsibility, while creating positive social impact and supporting Phuket’s development as a sustainable global destination.
The 2026 Phuket Vegetarian Festival will be held in full from October 10–18, 2026. Shrine-cleaning ceremonies will take place on October 4–5, ahead of the festival, helping prepare the shrines for the annual celebration and ensuring that Phuket’s treasured cultural heritage continues to be passed on to future generations.
